The 2016 Honda Civic Coupe is coming soon…and we can’t wait!

The all-new 2016 Honda Civic Coupe made its Canadian debut at the Montreal International Auto Show, and it was a showstopper! The newest addition to the Civic lineup features an abundance of upgrades including a new sporty, sophisticated chassis and a roomier, quieter cabin. The Civic Coupe will arrive at Image Honda later this spring, joining the 2016 Civic Sedan.

Like its sedan counterpart, the Civic Coupe will feature two advanced new engines, including the first-ever 1.5L turbo engine for the Coupe, delivering more power, performance and fuel efficiency. The trim lines, from the well-equipped LX to the all-new Touring, receive significant upgrades to interior style, with soft-touch materials and high-grade finishes. Technology and safety are a priority, with standard and available features, including the Honda Sensing™ suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies as well as both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.

“The Honda Civic Coupe has always represented uncompromising style and design in the lineup and the 10th generation is no exception,” said, Jean Marc Leclerc, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Honda Canada Inc. “With an all new look, new powertrains, and new technology, the Coupe will continue to satisfy enthusiasts who have come to expect the very best from the Civic badge.”

The 2016 Civic Coupe is the second in a series of new 10th-generation Civic models that Honda is launching over the course of 18 months, including the Civic Sedan, Civic Coupe, the 5-door hatchback and Civic Si performance variants. And for the first time in Canada, the radical new Civic Type-R will be available (can we all say “Squeeeee!” about that one – it will be AWESOME!).

The 2016 Civic Coupe sports the premium character of the 10th-generation Civic design, including the bold front fascia, fast-back profile and sharp-edged detailing. The new Coupe also benefits from a lower seating position, which amplifies the Coupe’s low and wide dynamic driving character. It also features an exclusive rear taillight design is distinctly C-shaped, with LED taillights across the full length of the rear deck lid.

The 2016 Civic Coupe’s sportier design does not come at the expense of passenger comfort, boasting 222L more interior space and 130 mm more rear legroom than the outgoing Coupe model. The new Civic Coupe interior has premium touches, with high-quality materials and high-contrast finishes. These include a new one-piece, soft-touch instrument panel with molded stitching; more premium seat fabrics; door inserts with real stitching; an LED shift indicator and LED overhead lighting; and for EX and higher trims, a leather shift lever boot.

New standard equipment includes full-colour TFT centre meter, seven-inch Display Audio touchscreen, auto on/off headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, acoustic glass windshield, automatic climate control (dual-zone in upper trims), Electric Parking Brake with Brake Hold and Walk-Away auto door locks. New available features include Honda LED headlights, Remote engine start and rain-sensing wipers.

The 2016 Civic Coupe provides the latest in audio and connected-car technology, including more powerful audio systems; a standard new Android OS-based, 7-inch Display Audio touch screen interface; a wide selection of streaming audio options such as SiriusXM® and HD Radio™; and full compatibility with both Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® platforms. The Civic Coupe’s highest trim will also feature a new Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ developed in cooperation with the experts at Garmin.

Looking for power and fuel efficiency? The 2016 Civic Coupe delivers, with two more powerful and fuel-efficient powertrains. Lower trims receive a new 2.0-liter DOHC i-VTEC™ engine, with 158 horsepower and 138 lb.-ft. of torque and can also be equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. Civic Coupe mid to highest trims are powered by a new 1.5-liter DOHC direct-injected TURBO – the first-ever turbocharged engine for Civic Coupe – putting out a peak 174 horsepower and 162 lb.-ft. of torque. This engine is exclusively mated to a Continuously Variable Transmission with paddle shifters for the Canadian market.

Safety has always been Honda’s number one priority and the 2016 Civic Coupe is no exception.  It utilizes Honda’s next generation Advanced Compatibility Body Structure™ (ACE™) working in conjunction with advanced airbags and seatbelts to provide a high degree of safety performance. Utilizing these with the available new Honda Sensing™ suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, the 2016 Civic Coupe with Honda Sensing™ targets the highest available U.S. safety ratings – an NCAP 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a TOP SAFETY PICK+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The Ridgeline is Back! 2017 Honda Ridgeline

After a brief hiatus, the Honda Ridgeline is back, delivering superior driving dynamics with the largest interior space offered in a mid-size 4 door pickup.  Revealed in Detroit on January 11th at the North American International Auto Show, the Honda Ridgeline sets new benchmarks for versatility and comfort.

2017 ridgeline

Designed, developed and manufactured in the U.S., the 2017 Ridgeline will launch in the first half of 2016.  Designed to suit the needs of the “every day” driver, there are a number of features and capabilities that are unlike anything else in today’s market. Such features include:

  • Class-leading space
  • Class-exclusive features – In-Bed Trunk, dual-action tailgate and the industry’s first in-bed audio system.
  • Available Honda Sensing suite of Safety and driver-assisted technologies.
  • 8-inch Display Audio featuring Apple Car Play and Android Auto compatibility

The new design, based on Honda’s Global Light Truck platform, has a rigid yet lightweight unibody construction, with fully independent suspension.  As such, it helps to deliver an excellent ride with even better handling.  Powered by a 3.5 litre, direct-injected, i-VTEC V-6 engine with automatic transmission, the Ridgeline provides segment-leading EPA fuel economy ratings.  For the first time ever, we are excited to announce that the Ridgeline will be available in both front wheel and all-wheel drive.

On the interior, the 60/40-split and folding second-row seats not only provide convenience, but give you the versatility that you need.  When folded down, the truck can comfortably seat 5 passengers while still accommodating larger items that can be stored under the seat such as a golf bag.

If you’re looking for the convenience of hauling large loads, the truck bed on the Ridgeline is like no other.  At 5’ wide and 5’4” long, the 2017 Honda Ridgeline is the only vehicle in its class able to offer 4-foot wide flatbed space.  Additionally, the composite of the bed is UV-stabilized and scratch resistant and comes with a dual action tailgate, available 400-watt AC power inverter and the industry’s first in-bed audio system.

The 2016 Honda Civic awarded “North American Car of the Year”

What an honour! The all-new 2016 Honda Civic was awarded the prestigious 2016 North American Car of the Year Award. This win is the second for the Civic model in the award’s history, following a win for the 2006 Civic a decade ago.

“The 10th generation Civic was developed and is built in North America, making this North American Car of the Year win even sweeter,” said Dave Gardner, Senior Vice President of Operations, Honda Canada Inc. “Being built at our facility in Alliston Ontario and the number one car for Canadians for 18 consecutive years has cemented Civic’s importance in Canada. We are delighted that automotive press has recognized the new levels of styling, performance, advanced technology, safety, and value that characterize the new Civic.”

Truly all-new, the 2016 Civic features dynamic and sporty exterior styling and a roomier, more sophisticated cabin. There are two advanced new engines including the first application of Honda turbo engine technology to Civic, as well as a host of new available premium features and technologies.

The Buick Avista Concept

Debuting at the North American International Auto Show, Buick revealed the stunning Avista concept – a 2+2 coupe that highlights the brand’s commitment to contemporary design and draws inspiration from its historic performance roots.

Elegant and sleek, the Avista concept is a contemporary grand tourer, with a 400-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-6 with rear wheel drive and an amazing, futuristic driver-focused cockpit offering a comfortable, connected center of control.

“The Avista embodies the dynamic soul of Buick,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Global Buick Sales, Service and Marketing. “It is a modern expression of the brand’s heritage of sophisticated performance, communicated with beautiful elegance.”

2016 Buick Avista Concept

2016 Buick Avista Concept

The Avista’s uninterrupted body lines stretch front to rear, suggesting fluidity and swiftness. The absence of conventional B-pillars between the doors and rear side windows enhances the flowing profile.

“There is elegant simplicity in the Avista’s surfaces, which speak to the purity of the car’s performance, and a timeless beauty that’s a hallmark of Buick design,” said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director Global Buick Design. “It was designed to capture the spirit of the perfect drive.”

Marking the front and rear, Buick evolves its signature wing-shaped lighting with “soft curtain” elements that create illuminated “halos” around lamps’ edges, suggesting a three-dimensional shape and sculpture. Their design forecasts the evolution of Buick’s production lighting features, while the Avista’s grille features the brand’s new winged tri-shield insignia (returning to the 3-coulour design), set against a three-dimensional mesh background.

Like the exterior, the Avista’s 2+2 interior is elegant and streamlined.  It features 3D-printed door and seat trims and a future vision of Buick’s IntelliLink, with touchscreen controls on a widescreen instrument panel display.

The centre console also incorporates touchscreen controls and extends to the rear seating area. Open side storage compartments built into the front of the console are enabled by the new Electronic Precision Shift, similar to the 2017 LaCrosse.

The Superior Blue exterior colour is gorgeous and is complemented with Mist Gray leather seating inserts, console trim and door trim. Exposed carbon fibre and aluminum accents throughout reinforce the precision of the performance-oriented driving experience. The fading pattern on the seats, console and doors were inspired by waves receding at a beach’s edge.

“Waves, whether from the sea or in the sand, are all about motion and flow,” said Nesbitt. “That’s exactly what this concept is all about – flowing design and the purity of the driving experience.”

Buick designers enhanced the passengers’ sensory experiences with next-generation QuietTuning and air-quality control, including advanced noise cancellation technology, ionic air purifiers and aromatherapy.

The Avista also advances Buick’s legacy of turbocharged performance, which carries forward in the 2016 Regal GS and other models. Similar to the 2017 LaCrosse, the concept twin-turbocharged 3.0L V-6 features fuel-saving Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and Stop/Start technology to complement its power with efficiency. The engine is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission and Magnetic Ride Control delivers more precise body motion control.

Hopefully this Buick Avista concept will find its way into production – it’s sophisticated, sleek design would be a welcome addition to Buick’s modern and innovative lineup.  Visit us at Hamilton Auto Blog regularly for updates on the latest vehicles from Chevrolet, Buick and GMC.

The all-new 2017 GMC Acadia is a showstopper!

The GMC Acadia has been an exceptional CUV since its debut in Canada in 2007.  Nine years later, GMC has introduced the all-new 2017 Acadia – a completely redesigned crossover designed to offer great versatility and refinement, with more advanced safety technologies. The premium Acadia Denali returns, along with a new All Terrain model offering enhanced off-road capability.

2017 All-New GMC Acadia All Terrain

2017 All-New GMC Acadia All Terrain

“GMC is a strong, growing premium brand and the Acadia is a cornerstone of our success story,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “The all-new Acadia leverages GMC’s proven SUV experience to take on and shake up one of the largest vehicle segments, with a strong blend of design, technology and capability.”

The new Acadia is 700 pounds lighter than the current model, which pays off big at the gas pump. A new, 2.5L engine is standard, while a new, available 3.6L V-6 engine is more powerful and efficient than the current model. Both of the Acadia’s new engines feature direct injection and VVT, and both are paired with six-speed automatic transmissions.

Available with five-, six- or seven-passenger seating, and with new features such as a split-folding second-row seat that improves on the original Smart Slide feature of the current model. It offers greater flexibility, including easier access to the third row, even with a forward-facing child seat in place.

The 50/50-split third-row seat folds for a completely flat floor behind the second row and when the second row is also folded, there are 2,237 litres of cargo room. Levers at the rear of the vehicle make it easier to fold the second- and third-row seats and there’s also a new, standard rear seat alert that can remind the driver when an item may have been left in the rear seats.

“It’s a confident design influenced by extensive customer input,” said Helen Emsley, executive director, Global GMC Design and User Experience. “The original Acadia was very truck-inspired, but the new model has a decidedly SUV influence conveyed in sculptural details, softened corners and a sleeker windshield angle.”

New grilles and wraparound headlights – HID lamps on Denali and halogen projectors on other models – reinforce the confident, refined appearance, while LED signature lighting is standard on all models. Inside, all Acadia trim levels feature unique interior colour and trim combinations and incorporate authentic aluminum trim.

Premium cues distinguish the returning Acadia Denali, featuring a dimensional chrome grille, along with integrated chrome side trim, chrome-accented door handles, a chrome lower-rear fascia and specific six-spoke wheels.

The new All Terrain model matches distinctive design elements with enhanced off-road-driving ability. It features an advanced AWD system with Active Twin Clutch, which optimizes traction for every condition it encounters. And while it is engineered for optimal performance in wet, snowy and icy conditions, it also provides enhanced stability in dry conditions.  All Terrain models are distinguished from the rest of the Acadia lineup with a body-color grille surround, black chrome trim and unique wheels. Inside is exclusive five-passenger seating, dynamic All Terrain interior accents and covered storage bins in the rear cargo floor in place of a third-row seat.

Safety and technology are a top priority in the Acadia. These features are available depending on the model and include:

  • New Front Pedestrian Braking (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • New Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • New Forward Automatic Braking (available on Denali)
  • New Following Distance Indicator (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • New IntelliBeam automatic headlamp high-beam control (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • New Surround Vision camera system (Available on Denali)
  • New Safety Alert Seat (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • Forward Collision Alert (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • Lane Keep Assist (Standard SLT-2 & Denali)
  • Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert (Available on SLE-1, Standard SLT-1, SLT-2 & Denali)
  • Front and Rear Parking Assist (Standard SLT-2 & Denali – Rear Park Assist available on SLE-2 and standard on SLT-1)
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (Available on SLE-1, Standard SLT-1, SLT-2 & Denali)

And when it comes to connectivity, the Acadia is plugged in with available phone integration technology through GMC’s available IntelliLink system. It offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, making it easy to connect to some of the features smartphone users rely on most.

Additionally, an available OnStar 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot keeps drivers and passengers connected. The hotspot is on whenever the vehicle is on and comes with a three-month/three-gigabyte data trial.  Additionally, all three rows offer USB charge ports for compatible electronic devices.

Whew, that’s a lot of innovations and improvements on an already amazing vehicle!  The all-new Acadia goes on sale this spring – watch for it at Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC and view our entire lineup at www.queenstonchev.com .

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt’s styling sets the bar high for EVs

The Bolt. It just sounds exciting…electrifying…energizing…and exceptional. As Chevrolet’s first ground-up, long-range electric vehicle, the 2017 Bolt EV is a vehicle we at Queenston can’t wait to see go into production. Being a completely new concept for Chevy, the designers were given unprecedented freedom, resulting in a vehicle that crosses boundaries and challenges expectations in the electric vehicle (EV) segment.

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

“We were given a blank canvas – a rare opportunity with a unique platform to recast EV design for customers across the spectrum,” said Stuart Norris, managing director of Design. “The team answered the challenge with a progressive design distinguished by dramatic graphics and exceptional passenger space.”

The Bolt EV’s styling centres on its unique proportion, which is driven by a flat battery pack mounted beneath the interior floor. The flat battery pack allows the Bolt to offer 5-passenger seating and 479 litres of cargo space behind the rear seat.

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV

“The flat-pack orientation offered the flexibility to make the most of the proportions while creating a clean, sculpted design,” said Norris. “This really opened up the interior and created a fantastic view from every seating position. All of this additional space gave us a lot of opportunities to play with creative design and storage solutions.”

The exterior features large windows and a steep windshield, emphasizing the interior’s spaciousness and bright airy feel. The Bolt offers a panoramic view from upright, SUV-like seating positions. The rear-window glass extends all the way to the license plate and integrates with LED taillights on the liftgate. By integrating the taillamps into the full-width liftgate, the Bolt EV’s has a wide opening that makes it easier to slide boxes and other items into the vehicle.  The LED headlamps wrap around the forward edge of the front fascia, and the signature Chevrolet dual-element grille has been revamped and is offered with two signature colours, harmonized with the exterior colour choices.

The interior is fresh and bright, with signature-colour Electrification blue ambient lighting emanating from beneath metallic white decorative trim.  A “floating” instrument panel features a 10.2-inch-diagonal touchscreen which creates a horizontal feel to the interior, maximizing knee room and cross-vehicle spaciousness.  Additionally, a multipurpose, connected centre console features side-by-side cupholders, a wireless charging location and a sliding armrest covering a storage compartment large enough to store a tablet device.

“The Bolt EV’s design elements are designed for everyday life and the space inside accommodates it all, whether you and your friends go shopping for the day or take off for the weekend,” said Norris. “Inside and out, this game-changing vehicle makes a dramatic statement with a distinctive identity that can only be a Chevy and challenges expectations for what an affordable EV can offer.”

The 2017 Chevrolet Bolt EV goes into production in late 2016, landing in Queenston’s showroom sometime in 2017. View our full Chevrolet lineup at www.queenstonchev.com.
