2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel UPDATE

The wait will soon be over – the new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze 2.0TD (Diesel) is said to be in Canadian Dealerships by as early as this summer. This new Cruze has an estimated range of 700 highway miles on one tank of diesel fuel, which is roughly equivalent to 10 hours of highway driving.

With a starting price of $26,495 including freight, this new Cruze has a better value ($510 lower) than its competitor – the comparably equipped 2013 Volkswagen Jetta TDI automatic.

Offered in one trim level, the Cruze 2TD offers some excellent standard features.

Surpassing its competitors, the Cruze Diesel has an estimated 148 horsepower and can go 0-60mph in 8.6 seconds, which is better than the Volkswagen TDI automatic. Powered by the cleanest diesel passenger engine GM has ever produced, this car generates 90 percent less Nitrogen Oxide and particulate emissions then past generations.

Get Behind The Wheel And Donate to The Walk to Fight Arthritis

Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC will be holding our “Drive for a Cause” event on May 10^th and 11^th, 2013 at our Queenston on the Mountain dealership. This event will provide individuals the opportunity to support a great cause and test drive one of our exciting 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicles. These vehicles include: the re-designed Chevrolet Impala, Chevrolet Malibu, Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia, as well as, the new Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore.

For each test drive taken during the two day event, Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC will donate $25 to The Arthritis Society on behalf of that individual. The dealership’s goal for this event is to donate $4,500.

The 2014 Chevrolet Impala – Made in Canada and Arriving Soon…

This week, the production of the tenth generation Chevrolet Impala began. The 2014 Impala rolled off the assembly line at Ontario’s very own Oshawa Assembly plant.

“The all-new Impala demonstrates the new direction of Chevrolet,” said Kevin Williams, president and managing director of GM Canada. “Our employees in Oshawa have executed a flawless plan in bringing this iconic nameplate to life. The newly-redesigned Impala will exceed customers’ expectations because of the hard work and dedication of our employees at Oshawa Assembly.”

Some of the new features available in the new Impala include Adaptive Cruise Control, crash avoidance technologies like Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert.

Technologically advanced – the new Impala will include the latest MyLink in-vehicle entertainment system which features a customizable color display screen and a natural voice recognition system (a first for Chevrolet).

The engine choices available will be a 3.6L V-6, a new 2.5L four-cylinder and a 2.4L four-cylinder with fuel-saving eAssist technology.

The 2014 Impala will start at $28,445 – only $145 more than the 2013 Impala.

Coming soon: The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel

The North American market will soon be met with a 2.0L turbo-diesel version of the top selling Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel boasts the cleanest diesel passenger car engine General Motors has ever produced. It is also the first clean diesel car ever produced by a North American manufacturer. The Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel will be priced considerably lower than its biggest competitor, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Diesel.

Clean diesels generate about 90 percent less Nitrogen Oxide and particulate emissions compared to the earlier diesels. Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel emissions are below Environment Canada Emissions Standards.

The Cruze’s new 2.0L turbo-diesel engine produced a leading estimated 148 horsepower and estimated 258lb-ft torque with 0-60 performance of 8.6 seconds, beating out the VW Jetta TDI automatic.

“Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel fills an important role in Chevrolet’s diverse four-cylinder lineup, and is primed to win over diesel devotees and compact car buyers with its performance, torque and fuel economy,” said Chris Perry, Chevrolet’s VP of marketing. “We leveraged engineering expertise from around the globe to develop a world-class, low-emissions engine to give U.S. and Canadian customers a car that’s both fun to drive and practical at the pump.”

The Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel comes with a six speed automatic transmission, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, 3.20 final drive ratio, 140-amp alternator, 800 cold-cranking amps battery, 17 inch alloy wheels, ultra-low-rolling resistance all-season tires, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system and more.

4G LTE Coming to a GM Vehicle Near You

Imagine getting into your vehicle, and having your connectivity transformed to a whole new level. That is where General Motors in partnership with OnStar and AT&T, are hoping to go by bringing 4G LTE to future GM vehicles. The speedy mobile data speed will be available in select 2015 models in the U.S and Canada.

“We’re making a global commitment to embed 4G LTE mobile broadband across all of our vehicles,” Mary Chan, president of GM’s Global Connected Consumer, said in an interview. “This is the largest commercial deployment of 4G LTE services in the auto industry.”

GM is aiming to offer embedded connectivity in their vehicles, so drivers will not have to rely only on their mobile phones for connectedness.

LTE (long term evolution) is a high speed wireless technology that is a step above 3G. LTE allows users to download, stream and upload music and videos about 10 times faster than 3G. Built-in 4G LTE connections will allow a wider range of in-vehicle communications and entertainment capabilities such as in-car video streaming entertainment, real time updates and faster application downloads.

This advancement will undoubtedly help the mobile world connect to the automotive world in a way that will revolutionize how consumers use the internet.

2013 Canadian International Auto Show

This year’s Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto brought with it huge crowds, gorgeous vehicles and exciting exhibits from the manufacturers. Here at AutoHwy, we aren’t afraid to admit that this year brought some thrilling models.

Among some of this year’s most exciting were the concept vehicles. Stealing everyone’s attention was the Honda Urban Small SUV concept. Striking in its appearance, it glistened under the lights on display and stopped everyone in its tracks. This “concept” is soon to become a reality since it is set to be released in the United States later next year.

Another popular favourite was the Chevrolet concept cars – Tru 140 S and Code 130R . At their exhibit, Chevrolet actually engaged visitors by creating a voting booth of sorts, allowing individuals to vote on which concept car they would like to see become a reality!

Perhaps one of the most exciting models at the show was the Canadian debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Stingray Corvette. This 450 horsepower vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in less than 4 seconds! Now for the good and the bad…it can be yours for approximately $115,000.

The 25th Annual 2012 Sales Awards Banquet for the Hamilton Burlington Automotive Dealers Association

The 25^th Annual 2012 Sales Awards Banquet for the Hamilton Burlington Automotive Dealers Association was held yesterday, February 12, 2013. The event is held annually to bring together dealers and industry partners, as well as recognize Hamilton and Burlington’s top sales producers.

This year we are proud to announce the recipients of this award for our three locations – Image Honda, Queenston on the Mountain and Queenston on Centennial.

Image Honda proudly recognizes Rob Cahunek as this year’s HBADA sales winner for the 4^th year in a row. Rob has been a sales expert at Image Honda since 2006 and has also been a “Sales Leader” with Honda Canada Sales Council in 2009/2010. The runner up for the HBADA Sales award is Andy Hewitt. Andy has been serving Image Honda’s sales department since 2010, and has been in the automotive industry since 2007.

Queenston on the Mountain is proud to announce Chris Hopf as this year’s HBADA Sales Award Winner. Chris has been a member of the Queenston on the Mountain sales team since 2009. His goal is to ensure that every customer knows that he is there for them, especially for the long haul. We are also pleased to announce Brian Lamb as this year’s HBADA sales winner runner-up. Brian has been a member of the Queenston family since 2012, bringing with him over 22 years of experience selling GM vehicles. This is a great app for owners of GM vehicles. From MyChevrolet to MyGMC, MyBuick and more – you can get personalized apps for your brand of vehicle. The MyChevrolet app, for example, features the Find My Car feature that lets you mark parking spots on a map so finding your car in a parking lot won’t be a problem. The lights and indicators visual reference guide will tell you what those warning lights on your dashboard mean. There’s also OnStar RemoteLink to give you information on your car’s battery levels and operations. Plus easy access to scheduling service, locating dealers, roadside assistance and more! This app provides you with everything you need to keep your vehicle in check. This app is available on Apple and Android smartphones.

If you’re a Honda owner, the free HondaLink app is the best one for you. With the Aha system, you can turn your personalized internet content into customized on demand stations that sync to your in-car HondaLink. Change your customized stations whenever you want, and make your drive as convenient and as entertaining as possible with your in car stations. Safe Driver

This app is for parents with teens who are new drivers. Or parents who just want to keep an eye on the way their kids are driving. Safe Driver monitors the location and driving of your child. It alerts parents via text or email when their kids exceed a specific speed. This is a great app for making a new driver’s experience safer. This app is available for Apple and Android smartphones.

Waze

Waze is a community based traffic and navigation app. You’ll be working with other drivers to make everyone’s commute easier and shorter. By simply driving with your Waze app open you’re contributing to the traffic and road information for your local community. Waze allows you to read and contribute to reporting accidents, hazards, police and anything you see on the road. Waze also works as a navigation system with voice guided navigation. You can share your drive with your friends too, so people know where you’re going and you can meet up with people going to the same destination. This app is available on Apple and Android smartphones.iWrecked

If ever you’ve found yourself in an accident, the free iWrecked app will help you collect yourself when you don’t know what to do next. The app allows you to give a full accident report after you’ve been in a wreck. It generates a detailed, professional PDF accident report complete with images that you take yourself. You can send this report directly from your phone to your insurance company. You can also locate nearby taxi or towing companies to assist you straight from your app and make one button calls to your insurance companies and other emergency contacts. The Chevrolet FREE Hockey Helmet Program is Back!

The Chevrolet Hockey Helmet Program is back in conjunction with Chevrolet’s Safe & Fun Hockey. This program was created in 1999, for today’s youth to adopt proactive attitudes toward safety as well as foster a healthy and positive attitude toward “competition, team work, fair game and grace under pressure” in hockey.

Through an ongoing partnership with Hockey Canada, Chevrolet will give away 1 FREE Bauer youth hockey helmet to children who were born in 2007 and who are registered in a Canadian Minor League Hockey Association. It is important to note, that parents must register their child to receive this offer. Coaches, managers or other team officials may not do so.
What is required?

A printout of the registration form; click here to register!
Your child’s birth certificate/passport or other provincial/federal documentation that states his/her age;
Proof of registration with a Canadian Minor Hockey Association in this current hockey season.

If you meet the above requirements, all you have to do is drop by one of our two dealerships; Queenston on the Mountain or Queenston on Centennial.
