Honda Named Most Trust Brand, Best Value Brand and Best Overall Brand

There is once again exciting news for Honda! New-car buyers have spoken in our favour and recognized the Honda Brand as the “Most Trusted Brand” for the second consecutive year and as the “Best Value Brand” for the third year in a row in Kelley Blue Book’s 2013 Brand Image Award study. Additionally, Honda received the top award this year for “Best Overall Non-Luxury Brand” giving us more awards than any other car brand.KBB

These awards are based on consumer automotive perception data from Kelley Blue Book Market Intelligence’s Brand Watch study, which surveys more than 12,000 new-vehicle shoppers each year on Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com.  Honda received top honors by capturing the highest average score from the combined ratings of all non-luxury models.  Jack R. Nerad, executive editorial director and executive market analyst, Kelley Blue Book’s KBB.com was quoted as saying “Honda was named Best Overall Brand by non-luxury shoppers, which speaks to Honda’s stellar reputation and brand leadership in the minds of consumers.”

We encourage you to visit Image Honda and view our award winning line-up of vehicles.  With incentives and bi-weekly leasing for as little as $77 you won’t be able to turn down a test drive!

Chevrolet unveils the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible

When the 2014 Corvette Stingray was unveiled earlier this year at the Detroit Auto show, we were all left wondering – What about the convertible Stingray? When will it make its’ debut?

Our minds were put to rest today as the 2014 Corvette Stingray Convertible was unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show.Stingray Convertible 1

The convertible Corvette Stingray comes with almost everything you would find on the coupe version. The only notable changes are limited to accommodating the folding fabric top and repositioned seatbelts. Unlike other convertibles, the top can be dropped at speeds of up to 50km/hour. The key fob can also be used to raise or lower the top remotely.Stingray Convertible 2

“The convertible has been a part of the heart and soul of Corvette since the very beginning in 1953,” said Ed Welburn, General Motors  Vice President of global design. “With the all-new Corvette Stingray, we designed and developed the coupe and convertible simultaneously. As a result, the Corvette Stingray offers an open-top driving experience with no compromise in performance, technology or design.”Stingray Convertible 3

If the Stingray Corvette wasn’t enough already, the convertible takes it another step higher.  We can’t wait to see it out on the open road.

2013 Canadian International Auto Show

This year’s Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto brought with it huge crowds, gorgeous vehicles and exciting exhibits from the manufacturers.  Here at AutoHwy, we aren’t afraid to admit that this year brought some thrilling models.

Among some of this year’s most exciting were the concept vehicles.  Stealing everyone’s attention was the Honda Urban Small SUV concept.  Striking in its appearance, it glistened under the lights on display and stopped everyone in its tracks. This “concept” is soon to become a reality since it is set to be released in the United States later next year.563447_10101024808083761_243069825_n

Another popular favourite was the Chevrolet concept cars – Tru 140 S and Code 130R .  At their exhibit, Chevrolet actually engaged visitors by creating a voting booth of sorts, allowing individuals to vote on which concept car they would like to see become a reality!602242_10101024806536861_379935614_n

Perhaps one of the most exciting models at the show was the Canadian debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Stingray Corvette. This 450 horsepower vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/hr in less than 4 seconds!  Now for the good and the bad…it can be yours for approximately $115,000.

If you didn’t have an opportunity to make it to the show this year, feel free to browse our Facebook album and see what General Motors and Honda had to offer!48122_10101024806706521_489055165_n

The 2013 Best New Technology Award goes to….

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has awarded General Motors with the 2013 Best New Technology award for its new innovation in technology and safety, the front centre airbag. The front centre airbag is a first in the automotive industry. It’s been designed to keep drivers and front passengers safe in far side impact crashes.

Geoff Bailey, Canadian engineering manager said, “Delivering innovative technologies that make a difference for our customers is critical to our mission to design, build and sell the world’s best vehicles.”

The air bag deploys from the right side of the driver’s seat and positions itself between the front row seats near the centre of the vehicle. It is designed to provide restraint during passenger side crashes when the driver is the only front passenger. In case of impact when driver and front passenger are both in the car, the airbag acts as an absorbing cushion between driver and front passenger.

You can find the Front Centre Airbag in the new 2013 Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Traverse, which are all available at Queenston Chevrolet on Centennial and Queenston on the Mountain. Visit us at www.queenstonchev.com for more information.

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU NAMED YOUR CAR?!

Last night was a rough night for Sophia – she hates driving in the snow! Every time we came to a stop she would skid to a halt, but that’s because she hasn’t gotten her snow boots, I mean snow tires put on yet.  We’re planning to get that done ASAP.   In case you are wondering who Sophia is, that would be my car.  YES, I named my car…well actually, my girlfriend named my car when I bought her in September.  For as long as I have known my friend, we have been calling her car “Heidi the Hyundai”.  So naturally, when my other friend purchased her Rogue only a couple weeks before me, she was called “Rosie the Rogue”, followed by my beloved “Sophia the Sonic”.

Now, you’re probably doing one of two things – either you’re laughing at the fact I have named my car or you’re relating to me because you, too, have named your vehicle.  Here at the dealership, everyone knows who Sophia is.  I frequently get asked, “How is Sophia?”  In fact, my boss even texted me a couple weeks ago after a major storm, to ask if “Sophia made it safely to work”, sparking some laughs amongst my co-workers who drive SUVs!

Your car is a big investment – you spend hours in it every week, typically have it for many years and you invest a lot of money maintaining it.  Your car is even there for some of the biggest moments in your life!  Maybe it got you to the hospital for the birth of your child or took you on the best road trip of your life.  Whatever the reason may be, naming your car is not uncommon.  In fact, I know just as many people who name their car as those that don’t.  So for all of you people who are ashamed to admit that you have named your car, I say embrace it!  At the end of the day, it always sparks some laughs and you will be surprised how many people will call your car by its name!
