The wait will soon be over – the new 2014 Chevrolet Cruze 2.0TD (Diesel) is said to be in Canadian Dealerships by as early as this summer. This new Cruze has an estimated range of 700 highway miles on one tank of diesel fuel, which is roughly equivalent to 10 hours of highway driving.
With a starting price of $26,495 including freight, this new Cruze has a better value ($510 lower) than its competitor – the comparably equipped 2013 Volkswagen Jetta TDI automatic.
Offered in one trim level, the Cruze 2TD offers some excellent standard features.

Queenston Chevrolet Buick GMC will be holding our “Drive for a Cause” event on May 10th and 11th, 2013 at our Queenston on the Mountain dealership. This event will provide individuals the opportunity to support a great cause and test drive one of our exciting 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet, Buick or GMC vehicles. This week, the production of the tenth generation Chevrolet Impala began. The 2014 Impala rolled off the assembly line at Ontario’s very own Oshawa Assembly plant.
“The all-new Impala demonstrates the new direction of Chevrolet,” said Kevin Williams, president and managing director of GM Canada. “Our employees in Oshawa have executed a flawless plan in bringing this iconic nameplate to life. The newly-redesigned Impala will exceed customers’ expectations because of the hard work and dedication of our employees at Oshawa Assembly.”
Some of the new features available in the new Impala include Adaptive Cruise Control, crash avoidance technologies like Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Side Blind Zone Alert.
Technologically advanced – the new Impala will include the latest MyLink in-vehicle entertainment system which features a customizable color display screen and a natural voice recognition system (a first for Chevrolet).
The engine choices available will be a 3.6L V-6, a new 2.5L four-cylinder and a 2.4L four-cylinder with fuel-saving eAssist technology.
The 2014 Impala will start at $28,445 – only $145 more than the 2013 Impala.

The North American market will soon be met with a 2.0L turbo-diesel version of the top selling Chevrolet Cruze. The Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel boasts the cleanest diesel passenger car engine General Motors has ever produced. It is also the first clean diesel car ever produced by a North American manufacturer. The Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel will be priced considerably lower than its biggest competitor, the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Diesel.
Clean diesels generate about 90 percent less Nitrogen Oxide and particulate emissions compared to the earlier diesels. Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel emissions are below Environment Canada Emissions Standards.
The Cruze’s new 2.0L turbo-diesel engine produced a leading estimated 148 horsepower and estimated 258lb-ft torque with 0-60 performance of 8.6 seconds, beating out the VW Jetta TDI automatic.
“Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel fills an important role in Chevrolet’s diverse four-cylinder lineup, and is primed to win over diesel devotees and compact car buyers with its performance, torque and fuel economy,” said Chris Perry, Chevrolet’s VP of marketing. “We leveraged engineering expertise from around the globe to develop a world-class, low-emissions engine to give U.S. and Canadian customers a car that’s both fun to drive and practical at the pump.”
The Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel comes with a six speed automatic transmission, four-wheel antilock disc brakes, 3.20 final drive ratio, 140-amp alternator, 800 cold-cranking amps battery, 17 inch alloy wheels, ultra-low-rolling resistance all-season tires, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system and more.

Imagine getting into your vehicle, and having your connectivity transformed to a whole new level. That is where General Motors in partnership with OnStar and AT&T, are hoping to go by bringing 4G LTE to future GM vehicles. The speedy mobile data speed will be available in select 2015 models in the U.S and Canada.
“We’re making a global commitment to embed 4G LTE mobile broadband across all of our vehicles,” Mary Chan, president of GM’s Global Connected Consumer, said in an interview. “This is the largest commercial deployment of 4G LTE services in the auto industry.”
GM is aiming to offer embedded connectivity in their vehicles, so drivers will not have to rely only on their mobile phones for connectedness.
LTE (long term evolution) is a high speed wireless technology that is a step above 3G. LTE allows users to download, stream and upload music and videos about 10 times faster than 3G. Built-in 4G LTE connections will allow a wider range of in-vehicle communications and entertainment capabilities such as in-car video streaming entertainment, real time updates and faster application downloads.
This advancement will undoubtedly help the mobile world connect to the automotive world in a way that will revolutionize how consumers use the internet.
